As you can tell from the pictures, the tree is surrounded with tons of tiny pieces of paper, tied along the rails. These papers contain millions of wishes presented to the tree, as it is believed its divined spirits will bring good luck (and perhaps grant some) to its visitors.
What I wished for may not come true for a while .... but when it does, I will always remember I wished it upon Samsindang.
