It's the little things that make me happy
I READ MY FIRST KOREAN WORD!!!!
I imagine this is somewhat how mothers feel when their first born child says their very first word.
Child: "Mamma" - Mother: "Ahhhhhh the first word!!! Oh my gosh write it down, remember forever"
And then, when you're 16 your mother still tells the story at every birthday party about how cute you were when you said your first word Mamma.
Well, now that I'm learning the Korean alphabet, I am finally deciphering letters out. It no longer looks like sticks and lines everywhere. Instead I see letters. GOSH, what a genius right? (Well, I still forget/struggle with the pronunciation of some letters though) So anyways, today (yesterday) I was walking down the street on my way to work, and I saw a word which I knew all the letters to. I pronounced it out loud and sounded it out: "No Raeh Bang" and then I said it again and realized I knew what it said. It said Norebang (노래방) and it means Karaoke & this place was a Karaoke bar!! Imagine my excitement.

Even though I am a million gazillion and one words away from speaking this language, I was happy to confidently realize that at least pretty soon I will be able to read and write Korean. And when that time comes, I will never forget that the first word I read, was Norebang ^_^
Love,
