Inari Shrine in Kyoto

If you are only in Kyoto for a short time, this Buddhist shrine is a MUST stop. We simply saw it on the map of tourists for Kyoto, and spontaneously decided to go even though it was not on our "list". Little did I know, it would become my favorite place I visited in the city. Conveniently it was on the same subway line as the house we stayed in Kyoto.

Directions: Take the JR (red) Nara Line. Get off at "Inari" Station, and as soon as you walk out,
you will be mesmerized.

I was surprised to find out that in this same location, scenes from the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" were filmed. How amazing, I loved that movie! I found the scene clip on youtube:
